IGF-1 LR3 is an extended, modified analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1 with a substantially longer half-life than native IGF-1. It is widely used in in-vitro culture work and preclinical models of growth and tissue signalling.

The Arg3 substitution and 13-amino-acid extension reduce binding to IGF binding proteins, so more of the peptide remains active. It signals through the IGF-1 receptor, driving PI3K/Akt pathways associated with cell growth, protein synthesis and glucose uptake.
